The global supply network is a complex web connecting manufacturers, exporters, importers, rail, truck and ocean transport providers. Finely balanced, it can take a lot.
When the pandemic closed down ports, put drivers in quarantine and disrupted ocean transport, the problems started. The US demand spike maxed out inland capacity, containers were tied up in storage, and vessels stuck outside ports. But together we still moved more volumes than ever, and kept supply chains moving. As demand normalized and capacity was freed up, rates and service levels have come back to pre-pandemic levels.
